We are continuing to develop the last few main characters needed for the Shape Our Reality Takes. Next, we are working on the beginning stages for the character Askrin.
Sculpting The Face
Refining The Features
Setting The Eyes
Adjusting Eye Placement
Rough Colorization
Here we give the character a few rough texture attributes. These will be enhanced later with hand-painted details.
Updating The Scene Lighting
We just have a very rough lighting set up here to get things sculpted. Usually, it is sufficient but as this texture includes a slight subsurface scattering aspect the lighting needed to be brought up. Our goal is to not go for photorealism with these characters. We are more trying to go for a Claymation feal.
Adding Eyebrows
I mean if these eyebrows did not tell you we are not going for photorealism I do not know what does.
Adjusting The Eyebrow Color
Finalizing Eyebrow Shape
After looking at so many eyebrows on google, that they have begun to lose all meaning, we have arrived at a final eyebrow shape.
Designing Askrin's Duds
We have a couple of avenues we could go down for Askrin. Here we begin to design the boots and pants for one of them.
Belly Buttons
One of the options for Askrin had him with an open jacket and no undershirt. So a belly button had to be added. Sorry buddy, no nips for you though.
That Idea Was Quickly Abandoned
As quickly as the belly button was done that outfit idea was abandoned. Going for a different look, we began a redesign.
Recoloring Askrin's Eyes
Here we set the color for Askrin’s eyes.
Askrin For Now
Askrin is still a work in progress and has a few finishing touches to add. Not least of which will be the final texture paint of the character. Askrin needs to tell a lot without being present for very long within the story visually. What story will he tell? Will he have hair? Will he ever have nipples? Probably not but you will just have to check back to find out.
